Società Femminile Friulana
Società Femminile Friulana Toronto
The story of our Società began on May 1, 1938. The first president and founder, Maria Cristante, along with a group of 30 ladies wrote the first constitution and declared that the Furlane ladies society be named "The Società Femminile Friulana" based in Toronto, Ontario. To be a member in the Società candidates had to be 16 years of age or older, Furlan by origin and pay an initiation fee of fifty cents and a monthly contribution of twenty five cents. We have come a long way since then and our membership has grown to well over 300. All members past and present have worked hard to establish, maintain and make our Società a respected presence in our community. Our work continues today and in our own special way we are preserving and enriching the Furlan presence in our communities.
